Just before Valentine’s Day, 2003, my family got news that changed our world abruptly. On a day that started out like any other, playing and laughing with friends, we learned that our youngest daughter, Taylor, had Leukemia, a cancer of the blood. Our seemingly healthy child was admitted to the hospital to begin what would be 2 ½ years of chemotherapy, countless hospital visits, sleepless nights, and a new life for our family and those closest to us.
Thankfully, we were able to turn to three local organizations that provided critical education and resources, parent-to-parent support, in-hospital joy and entertainment to Taylor and cutting edge research for childhood cancer. My family is thrilled to be able to highlight and raise funds to keep these organizations thriving and helping other families that must walk this difficult path.
